Fernpassstrasse in Munich wins the 2014 Bayern Holzbaupreis

The ‘Holzbaupreis Bayern’ is a project formed by the Ministry of Forestry, Landesbeirat Holz Bayern e.V., proHolz Bavaria, The Bavarian Chamber of Architects and The Bavarian Chamber of Civil Engineers. Now in its ninth year, the awards have been presented every four years since they were founded in 1978.

Holzbaupreis Bayern said of the Fernpassstrasse project: The use of wood for the energetic modernisation, and the increased simplicity of the apartments, resulted in exemplary architecture. The significant increase in quality for the apartments, and the rise in occupation numbers, represents a successful response to the current issues in growing cities.
